68 hood on a 72?
Will a 68 hood work on a 72? I like the style better.

Re: 68 hood on a 72?
From what I've been told, the only way a 68 hood will fit is to change entire front clip out.

Re: 68 hood on a 72?
The hood will not "bolt on" and fit correctly.
You will need the grill, radiator support and fenders from the 67-68 to make the hood work correctly. |

I believe all above statements are correct........However..........I think it will work with a 67-72 GMC truck or front clip.

Re: 68 hood on a 72?
Thanks for the replies. I was hoping it would work. I'm staying with 71-72 Chevy grille, I just liked the sloped 67-68 hood.

Re: 68 hood on a 72?
you could pry section it out and shorten it up a bit.. or is it lengthen.. but im pretty sure the two hoods are the same width, just different lengths front to back. go for it. i was always curious what it would look like as well. (note... the 'legroom' truck is too curvy and flat... but i suppose that might be as close as anyone can get for now..)

Re: 68 hood on a 72?
I think it looks good. I think I have few other pics of a board members burb with this mod. I'll see if I can find them and maybe someone will remember who made the original post. If I remember correctly they had trim about two inches off the hood then weld the lip from the later model hood on. It's one of my favorite mods.

No that's the only pic I have of that one. I'm sure I grabbed it off of this board but I don't remember it belonging to a member. I keep thinking I'll see it show up as a feature in a mag someday.
