I've finally got around to working on my interior a little and went color dye crazy... I bought a used backseat for my jimmy that was white several years ago for $50 and a center console that was in OK cond for $30 and I still had the old blue visors. I switched to black interior after I got the Jimmy line-X'd and Dyed all this stuff black and it looks awesome. I used SEM brand color dye in a spray can (satin black) and it made the console look like new. I can't beleive I almost spent $350 getting the back seat re-upholstered, you can't even tell that it used to be white. I recommend it highly, I just don't know how well it will "wear" yet, but I rarely have any one in the back seat anyway.

I used the SEM product to restore my door panels. I agree, the stuff is great! BTW, I bought mine on-line at Autotrimstore and they will send you a free color chip chart of all the available colors free for the asking.

Thanks for the great summary. The panels I have are parchment and I want to change them to black. How many coats and cans do you think this will take to do a good job?

The instructions call for very light "mists" coats. I put about 6 coats on my panels and used a little over one can. I probably could have gotten by with one can for the panels but I'd bought two because I wanted to due my sunvisors also. I wasn't changing colors, so don't know if that will take more or not. In any case I think two cans would be enough.

Is this product sold at any auto parts stores? Whats the full name? Sounds like something I've been looking for for my vinyl sun visors.

I have never seen it in an auto parts store. I believe it is only available through mail order from SEM.

Auto Zone has it in spray bomb cans. I have used it, but the name of the stuff escapes my mind right now.
I used it on my head liner, dash pad, door panels, arm rests and visors.
I DO NOT recomend it for the arm rests. They are spongey, and as the vynal flexes, the dye may not flex. This happened on mine.
Also, if your truck will be used as a truck, then I would not do the door panels either. Mine has a couple chips in the coloring from my tool box touching it.
