Re: Fender Repair
It's free to try...
I think it would be a tough task, it looks like the lower front section has bondo. If that is the case who knows what lingers behind that area. If you want to do the work yourself so you can have the oppurtunity or you are looking to save some cash go for it. I do not think it would be worth your money to pay a professional body man $60.00 an hour to try and fix this fender. Just my pennies worth and it was free.... |

Re: Fender Repair
If you got the time and want to experiment, I have seem worse fixed, but is it worth your timke and effort. To me it is Definitely not worth paying someone to do it. If that is the case get another fender..

Re: Fender Repair
How would I go about fixing it? I have never done body work before.

Re: Fender Repair
I would try to find a used fender to swap on. The patch panel required for that fix is hard to find and would be at least 60 plus shipping. With the putty showing at the bottom it's hard to tell with the repaint what else has been done to the fender. Most patch panels are just the fender cup that comes up to the lower body line. I would think you could easily find a better fender for alot less than a patch and the time to try and fix it. You could even replace with a new one . I know Chevyduty sells one for $129 plus $69.00 freight. So for $200 you could have a new one. Used local is going to be your best bet and since it doesn't affect driveablity your not rushed to find what you are looking for. Just my 2cents

Re: Fender Repair
All
Thanks for the info. I dont like what I have read about the new fenders, missing holes & not lining up etc. Think I will post a wtb on the parts board and see what that gets me.

Re: Fender Repair
run down the road to vintage chevy truck in fremont and talk to bill (510)651-5874, for the amount of work needed on that one, buy a good one and spend your time on something else.
