Can you relate to us what a paint job runs in your area? With the price of paint an labor going up these days, we like to keep tabs on what others have invested.

Re: back from the paintshop
thanks guys, mostly i race at numidia and beaver springs, with an occasional late season run to maple grove. i race the friday night street legal stuff with the black 68, usually 12.0-12.2. has been as fast as 11.91 on a freak night. all motor with a 4 speed through the mufflers on dot slicks. paint was $3000 and i took the truck there like you see it, no trim. that was remove the box, paint back of cab and front of box, prep prime and paint inside box, jambs, paint inside of doors, edges of fenders under the hood, sandblast rear bumper and wheels and paint. everything is base clear, even the bumper and wheels, with 3 coats of each. the garage is dads but you'd never know since i took most of it over, my three trucks to his 48 pickup and malibu projects, lol. thanks for all the compliments, my buddies just don't understand the 67-72 obsession!!! Dev.

Re: back from the paintshop
dude, that truck looks AWESOME !!! that gives me alot of inspiration to get mine headed back inthat direction. Can I ask you a few questions, as I am in the middle of my own resto and since you have a similar rig, perhaps you can help.
1.) did you strip all the old paint, or did you do body prep and paint over? 2.) that paint looks expensive - might I ask (ballpark) what it set you back? 3.) I am putting my engine compartment back together after sitting for 4 years (new child), I cant remember where the two horns are mounted, have you got a picture of whats correct for our truck? 4.) I am having a devil of a time getting my alternator bracket installed right. the support rod to the engine block near the mainfold seems too short and when I was able to get it connected, it pulled the head of the alt bracket out of alignment so that the alt pulley now looks out of alignment with the pully on the water pump. maybe I put it together wrong. can I ask you for a few pictures of your upper and lower alt bracket? that is - if you are doing it stock 1 anyway, I know that seems like alot to ask, but you are one of the few c-20 owners with the same rig at nearly the same stage as mine. can you help? thanks alot, -chuck

Re: back from the paintshop
no problem, that's what this board is all about, truck only had one repaint over a totally solid body so i was lucky, but it was a bad, peeling repaint. it was sanded through that layer (60 hrs of sanding)and then painted with dupont base/clear. total was $3000 ( see 2 posts above for details). i'll get you some pics asap. big block longhorns are cool, that's what i was towing my trailer with before i found this truck, mine is a c-30 longhorn though. big block, stick, with a/c and factory tach. (but truck is rusty) now its resting by the garage awaiting its fate (unsure). DEV.

Re: back from the paintshop
Thanks alot dude.
Wow, that bracket is different than mine, I'll try to show you what I mean. The coast for all that paint and prep labor seems like you got a good deal. Can I ask you about the horns position on your truck? Again, thanks.
