Brake line question...
Hello all
I have a 1967 gmc longbed. In an effort to get better brakes I got new shoes. When I went to install them I found I needed wheel cylinders. these led to new rubber hoses. and this has now led me to new hard lines. When I am done this truck will have all new brake stuff. My question is this. I have small hard lines running the front brakes but a larger diameter line going to the rear axle. Is this normal? Thanks Joe |

Yes!
Think of it this way: 1/4" line for each axle, 3/16" line wherever you are pushing two axles. So, from the master you will have two 3/16" lines running until it breaks to go each individual brake. |

Thanks nandress
That makes perfect sense. more volume through the big lines, and cuts off smaller to the individual wheels. The lines are not original and thought I would check to make sure they were not installed improperly. Joe Last edited by joescott; 12-27-2006 at 11:08 PM. |
