I had that happen to me--it's a sickening feeling that makes you want to throw up. Just go change your shorts and thank the Man upstairs!

..and after you change your shorts, maybe change the oil just so you know there's no metal bits in there, although you should be alright, I'd do it just for peace of mind.

I have seen some of the small blocks that have a deflector that shields the dipstick. It drops in the diptick hole before the dipstick tube. I dont know if that would help, but who knows....

Oh geeeeez! My stomach sunk too when I started reading this post. Whewwww

Is it an aftermarket stick? A little too long maybe?

Glad it was nothing serious. That motor is spotless, hate to see it all torn apart right away...

And I was getting ready to delete your FAQ. J/K, glad it was something simple and more importantly CHEAP.

Re: Holy Crap...new Engine Knock/grind!!!!!

Glad it was just a good scare and not a major tear down. Hope to see you at one or more of the meets this coming summer. If nothing else goes wrong we should hear the nova run tomorrow. Then got to get hot on that dually as it needs going over before towing season. Lots going on but running out of time.
