Smile Interior color question (need some input)

Hello everyone I don't post much on here, but I'm always looking around on here. Anyways I was lucky enough to find some bucket seats yesterday. Blue in color. My project is a 70 gmc sierra grande. Ive painted it back to the original color.. I had planned to put a gray interior in it so I picked up a gray carpet to put in it. Well with my purchase yesterday I was bummed about having to go thru the trouble of trying to return the carpet. Ive had it more than a year I know. Well my dad pointed out that a gray carpet in a otherwise totally blue truck would not clash. So I would like to know what everyone would do. The carpet is the only item i've bought in gray. Just looking to see what other truck fans think. Maybe someone has already done it. Oh yea check out my new buckets and GMC console I scored.

Re: Interior color question (need some input)

the console and bucket seats will look awesome in that truck.
Put that grey carpet in too. It will really bring out the seats color.

Re: Interior color question (need some input)

Maybe do gray door panels, a gray dash pad and maybe a gray headliner.

Re: Interior color question (need some input)

I think the grey carpet would look fine in there with every thing else blue. I'm parcial to black interiors myself but what you are doing looks great so far. Keep up the good work.

Re: Interior color question (need some input)

It looks like your not going for a complete stock appearance with the hood and all. I would have put a leather camal interior in it. Grey would look great also. I would keep the interior metal all blue though. How good of shape are the seats in that you bought? Springs? Material looks good. Just seems like to much blue, but everyone has there preferences. Good luck with your project. Looks great.

Re: Interior color question (need some input)

The seats have new covers, the frames have been blasted and painted the foam is not new but in good shape. Im worried about having too much blue. I think the gray would break it up a little bit like it was said earlier. No I am not going for a stock appearance. Im just picking and choosing what I like on other peoples trucks and putting into mine. I dont have to patience for a full on restoration. Im just wanting a good looking truck to drive and take to a show every once in a while.

I hear you about the patience thing, I have 5 trucks in verious stages of restoration and building a 30by50 shop all at the same time. Im beginning to think I need to clone myself time 6. Your well on your way to the good looking truck, have you color sanded the truck yet?

Re: Interior color question (need some input)

No I havent colorsanded yet. Im thinking im gonna have to do some repainting. We didnt have the best setup for a paint room when we painted. Looked good in the room. Let it sit for about 2 weeks to dry and pulled it out in the sun and there was a couple of light spots in the paint. Bad lighting was the culprit. So it sat for awhile and we recently finished our new 40x60 shop, complete with paint room. So a sand down and a couple of new coats and new clear are in order. But the cab and the firewall are done so it shouldnt be a very big deal. So I have learned my lesson about painting and it is gonna cost me. Lesson Learned move on. Im ready to drive my truck! This is 5th year of this project.

Good Choice!! The chip I looked at looked a lil bit different but hey it was 36 years old. Needless to say I was pleased when it turned out, especially after the clear went on.
