Rear Coil Install Tips

Hey there everyone. I ordered a set of heavy duty rear coils for my 72 1/2 ton Long wheelbase. I'm gonna install them when they arrive. Any tips to make the job go easier ? I have never done springs before, but dosen't look too dificult. Thanks in advance Cliff...

I found that the hardest part was getting the bolt out of the retaining cup. I'd start soaking it now and make sure you have heat when you start. Did you order new cups? I had to after getting the springs out. If your lucky they will snap off.

best bet if all is rusty under there is to just tighten instead of loosen, before trying to loosen and just try to snap the bolts, cups usually survive, but if not the i have some and others do too, for cheap.,
bolts at NAPA store will work, get whatever length of same diameter to work for you,

I bought a small bottle of "Liquid Wrench" (Made by GUNK) from the auto parts store or hardware store. I apply some to the bolts a couple days before the work, then again right before the work. The best stuff you can imagine. Works great! Darren

spray the **** out of them,more than once let soak for long time-sometimes it is easier to snap bolts off-i hate doing coil rears,i even done one out in the 115 degree day on a truck in the summer that was rolled in the desert just to get a posi,but i was burnt,sick and dehydrated,if anyones interested 70 coil rear posi $250,had a big block in it to,put i couldnt get hood open enough to get in there,even tried to push it back over,i was gonna bring the hoist and get all motor,but i got some pieces.
