How to disassemble front hub w/o damage?

On my k20 I want to clean all the parts and regrease everything....but I don't want to break the little plastic blue dial. Can anybody tell me how to remove the pin without cracking the dial? Is a hammer and punch safe?

Just push down on the gear/spring/cage assembly to take tension off the pin, then take a blunt object and push the pin in flush with the plastic, then take a needle nose pliers and pull the pin out from the other side.
