73-91 windshield conversion!

Speaking of one piece glass....
I had a broacher in my one piece glass box that said....
Upcoming Products!
73-91 Chevy full size truck bodies, updated windshield conversion.

I just broke my front windshield (not on purpose) and now I'm think about holding off on a replacement.

OK Chris! Do you know anything about this.
Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: 73-91 windshield conversion!

Frank, OPP will be coming out with a flush mounted windshield for our trucks. I spoke with them when I purchased my 1 piece windows, he (Ben) couldn't tell me much, but he did hint at a price, around 3-4...but this was his estimate...so it could go up or down a little. Basically it will mount a new, larger windshield, just like the newer cars/trucks...making our trucks look a little more modern. It will of course be a glue in deal, but it that how they all are now anyhow.

Hope this helps some, Chris may have more info on this too.

EDIT: Oh, BTW, the new windshields will not have the internal antenna...the next batch may, but the first run will not. I suggested they include a hidden antenna with the kit, so those of us with internal antennas can still get reception without having to mount an antenna on the body.

I heard the $300 price tag as well. And, he expects to release them in June of 2007. Perhaps, Christmas in July.

BTW, these windshields (or at least, my windshield) tend to attract rock chips like a magnet. I had mine replaced a couple of years ago and now need another replacement.

No rubber or moldings for this new glass?

Re: 73-91 windshield conversion!

That seems to be what they are indicating. The glass is larger so it goes out to the perimeter of the existing window frame and glues in like the current windshields. Since I already have plans of flush fitting my side windows this will match perfectly...

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Your kidding aren't you. Those are just old pics. Last I heard it was moved to one of the other buildings. I have no idea when I will see any progress on it...

Re: 73-91 windshield conversion!

I knew the Blazer was moved to another building but I'm not included in all the latest rotations & thought I might have missed something.

I looked again & realized the drivetrain wasn't installed in the pic. Thinking back, I remember the pic being taken after the front 'clip' was completed.

Ben at One Piece Products said there will be an included small rubber trim to edge the windshield a bit. From our conversation the moulding is designed so that the line that inevitably wears into the A-pillar's paint from the large factory trim and seal will not show.

It depends on how you chopped the roof. If the roof is chopped and the factory windshield is leaned back then there should be no reason why the new One Piece Product's glass wouldn't fit. If the chop involved cutting the windshield down then the new windshiled will need to be cut down too.
