Info on a 292
I have an opportunity to buy a 67 lwb with a 292 in it and was wanting some info on the motor itself. I've seen a lot of guys post some ????"s about them but never really paid attention.
Also the seller said it has a metal bed, but I didn't think that metal beds were offered in 67?

Starting in 67, the metal floor was standard.

Re: Info on a 292
Just using my "SIX" eye, she looks like a 250 to me by the height. I should wait till all your pictures load to see the passengers side of the engine, but I am impatient

Re: Info on a 292
sorry, didn't get any pics of the pass side. Is the truck worth anything? I can get it pretty cheap, but don't need it. Could take some parts off for my blazer.

Re: Info on a 292
That looks like a 250 to me also.I can't beleive you didn't already buy it.It does have the rare "Bucket" seat option. If ya don't save the truck at least save the good parts.

Re: Info on a 292
Easiest way to check for a 292 is the passenger side motor mount. On the 292 the passenger mount not opposite the driver's side, it's one cylinder forward. If the mounts are opposite, it's a 250, 230 or 194.
As for the rest of the truck, the seats might be the most valuable parts. ![]()

Re: Info on a 292
the overload springs are worth a bit, the cab looks pretty nice by rust belt standards, that rear bumper would look good on my truck... it would be hard not to make some money on that if you got it cheap.
Steel floors were standard with wood being optional starting in 67 on all fleet side trucks with 115 or 127 inch wheel base, wood is all you could get in step sides and longhorns. |

Re: Info on a 292
The cab and front clip don't look too bad though you will probably end up redoing the rockers (unless you are fond of rivets and rust.)
The stealth bedsides are a rare option usualy only found on flatbeds.

I'll buy the "bucket" seats for $5
![]() Looks like a 250. Got any shots of the passenger side of engine? That would be the best way to tell.

Well, for several hundred dollars I think it may be worth picking up.

Re: Info on a 292
I would pay no more than $400 for that. I have seen several vehicles that are running and rolling with seats and doors, a bed and about the same amount of rust on the body (but better frame) for 1k-2k
