Removing Dash Pad Cover
I am pretty sure I got one of these el cheapo plastic dash pad covers over my dash pad on my 69 C10. I want to take it off and replace, but cannot find any screws. I take it that it is glued on? Also, where are the screws to take off the actual dash pad? I figure they are under the dash pad, but I don't want to destroy it looking for the screws. Thanks.

Re: Removing Dash Pad Cover
spend all day reaching under dash or take the glove box liner and the cluster out and presto you will get to the speed nuts that hold her together

Re: Removing Dash Pad Cover
Thanks guys. Looks like there is no easy way out of this one. I think I will order the new dash pad and see how many studs, and where they are positioned before attempting anything.

Re: Removing Dash Pad Cover
you'll really hate the job if you have A/C.
Honestly, when I did mine, none of the nuts went on, just the screws, and no one would ever know either. |

Re: Removing Dash Pad Cover
Be careful tightening the nuts back down.If you overtighten one it will cause the pad to not lay flat.I found that a 1/4 in socket set with extra extensions and swivels helped a lot.Going back I put a small piece of double sided sticky tape inside the socket to help hold the nut.(Rub it with a bit of dust or lint so it sticks to the socket and only holds the nut).I don't have AC but I can tell you it would be a pain to get to with it since it is without.

Re: Removing Dash Pad Cover
It may not seem like it, but you can save time and maybe a broken or cut up wrist if you pull out your dash bezel (including headlight switch), center a/c vent and radio, and your glovebox.......
