Be gentle its a project. I didnt do the airirde setup so if it looka like crap have no issues with critisizm. I am redoing alot of stuff as well a stfbd.Its an 87gmc.

Doesn't look like too bad of a project. It looks pretty solid 'cept for the rear air suspension setup. Like you said, redo the rear setup with a more conventional (better/safer) setup and I bet that improves both the strength and the ride.

Hoods - With a SFBD, I'm guessing that he's gonna Z the frame and install a bigger notch in the rear to drop it all the way down. That should take care of any ground effects.

BTW, how bad's the rust?

U ask how bad the rust is, MAN u sure know how to hit a sore spot at 4:00 a.m right before i drive 45 minutes across 3 towns to get to work welding ouside and its snowing .lol lol lol
Its typical, there was like 10 pounds of dirt built up in each one and they used 3 little anchors on each one so there were holes already to boot and the fact that the dirt stayed in there made it more complicated.

My plans are to paint it a different color maybe a 05 acura nsx blue,full phantom grill, bucket seats keep same rim size but get an expensive set, lol lol
Is there such a thing as expensive set of 15's anymore.(smile) not to much of a big wheel guy yet, at least not on this project here..
Yah im planning on z'ding the front and all that jazz, been reading all the prior posts in the past about it. I check the lowerred.com website and its helpful except ill box in the rails. Anyone here stfbdrop a truck similiar to mine. I forgot to measure how much frame sticks out past the body. WHen i deflate im 3 and a half inches from pinch and bumoer is 5 and a half from ground.How much should i z the front frame rails and i assume i lower the rad support the same amount and how much do i trim off the "top or bottom" not sure if trimming off the bottom is going to create problems elswhere like fittment of things. I wanna lay rocker not pinch..Any help is appreciated.Am i going to have issues with anything that u forsee, control arms aircond,heater steering,drve shaft pinion angles, any heads up is nice..

Man that notch in the back, is that actually even a notch.. LOL its like a 3 inch i think i dont know but its tiny, it came with the package..

wow looks like a nice start to a cool project. i like preformace more then a lay-ed put truck but to each his own. sounds like it is gonna be nice when done and glad to here your sticking with the 15's i am also not a fan of big rims eather but still a 16 or 17 would look nice on it. but i am not a fan of anything bigger then 18

I must have missed this the first time, but I know that truck, a guy I knew had owned it in high school about 8 years ago. Looks much pretty much the same as it did back them, except the bags. Does it still have the crushed velvet interior? Hes used to have a pretty killer stereo in there.

Hey Fry. I saw you had posted on my 87 gmc. You think you may have went to highschool with the guy that owned it?

Well i bought the truck from a guy living in Saskatoon Saskatchewan and his name was Brad Carlson, a really tall dude. I had been after him to sell me that truck forever and a friggin day. He was working at Saskatoon motor products or Smp and then he moved to Camrose alberta but i somehow tracked him down and he brought it out to Saskatoon october of last year.
There was no crush velvet that i ever remember seeing in it before. The interior was stock and the dash bezel and a few other things were made out of oak. Very Nice interior.. He would be literally sick to his stomach if he saw the stage it's in right now, as well as i often wonder if tearing a perfectly good truck apart like i have to the frame and performing a stockfloorbodydrop
for 3.5 inches when it was bagged out is worth it. I dont know i got a long ways to go so well see if it pays off. Im only working on the box tubing under the cab right now.Let me know if you still think its the same guys truck.. It was in Saskatoon for many year and owned by brad for at least 6 or 7 years.

I'm sure its the same truck, it was actually in Brooks, AB that I went to school. It sure looks like the same truck, is there an overhead console in it? I remember that about the truck. I remember some oak interior stuff, maybe it wasn't crushed velvet. Maybe it was just a dash pad or something.

yeah could be. Didn't figure that there would be that many long boxes with chrome fender trim, 15" eagles, ground effects and the exact same color.
I can't remember any other specific details about it. Doesn't matter much I guess lol, just kinda neat.
Where are you from anyway?
Do you have any interior shots?

im from brooks. dont remember the truck but there was one that looked the same but had a hard box cover. it was an 80 model i think tho.

If your from Brooks you might remember some of my old trucks.. an old 85 shortbox flatblack, lowered lots, or my 75 blazer which was bright orange with a lift on 33s.

yup thats the truck. asked riley about it and he said he sold it, then few months ago seen some hot chick driving it. dont recall your swb but ive seen the blazer maybe twice, couldnt forget that one was very nice. you still have it? actually did your swb have a fiberglass cowl hood? ive been driving an 84 gm lwb for bout 2 years now has a 91 front clip and pmirrors. nothing pretty to look at mostly black primer. its a parts truck for my 77 swb, whenever i get around to it. whyd you leave brooks? must miss the smell huh lol
