Re: clutch question

It's easy to adjust them. You want to be able to press the pedal in about 1.5 inches before the clutch engages (actually it will be disengaging). A good way to tell it's not adjusted correctly is that the pedal won't come out all the way and will stay "stuck" in the depressed position unless you pull it up with your hands. I've never heard any noises from my clutches so I couldn't tell you what that would be but if resting your foot on the clutch alleviates the problem then your throwout bearing would be a great place to start. I have run centerforce throwout bearing on two of my trucks (1977 ford f100 with 351Windsor) and my Blazer with no problems.

You didn't say if you had any body lift on that thing, if you do that might play a part in correst adjustment of your clutch since the linkage would have to be modified for the lift.

Re: clutch question

if I was going to guess, I'd say its your throw out bearing since you mentioned that it goes away if you rest your foot on the pedal...

Good luck with it!

Re: clutch question

Throw out bearing is your problem.

What kind of linkage system are you using for the clutch?

Don't waste your money on a diaphram type clutch, (including Centerforce). Diaphram pressure plates won't last in a truck because of the heat.
Get a good Borg & Beck style 12 in clutch. I have a Ram in mine.
