69 Pickup Fuse Panel Question

Howdy all. Newbie here.

I'm going to be gutting my 69's interior soon and adding killer stereo, A/C lots or lighting, gadgets etc, basicly a complete interior overhaul upgrade.

My C-10's wiring has suffered the usual amount of cutting/splicing, blown and melted wires etc that almost 40 years of backyard cobbling produces.

I want to completely rewire the interior, fuse panel included. I can do all the wiring myself, but am wondering where the best place is to get a decent, modern fuse panel that allows lots of accessories and has the late model spade fuses.

Any suggestions?

Fifty peeks at my post and not a single suggestion. Is everyone here running off of the stock fuse panel?

i have a 68 pickup and i just finished re-wiring the whole truck
i bought a compleet harness kit from painless wiring it was easy to instal and it upgrades the entire system to a modern fuse block and comes with all the extra wiring for power windows, power locks, stereo, etc. it comes with a step by step guide and every wire is labled for where it goes and the harnesses are already separated to engine section , front lights section, rear section and cab section . it comes with everything you need! let me know what you do! good luck

Thanks LockDoc for the links to the other posts and big.mike in the last of those links for putting up that list of wiring harness URLs. This REALLY answered the mail.

After reading the discussion and checking out the sources, I think I'm going to be using 2 or 3 of the panels sold by www.americanautowire.com.

For about $100 or less I can get about 24, circuits that'll each carry up to 30 Amps. Since the inside harness is getting heavily modified anyway, it doesn't make sense to buy a standard one like the Painless or Ron Francis ones and then waste a large portion of it.

Sure, I'll be on my back a lot with bi-focals that won't focus and a droplight shining in my eyes, but that's the part we all call "fun".

Right now I'm thinking of getting three 8 circuit panels. 8 will be for circuits that are continually on (dome light, clock, curtesy and headlights, horn, etc. ) and the rest for the circuits that are only on when the key is in the "on" or "accessory" position. Power for the amp/subs will get driven off a separate fused circuit (bus) coming from the battery or solenoid connection.

Cant wait to dig in.
