Think I Got A Deal....

I think I finally got a good deal on a truck.
A friend sold me this 1986 1 Ton for $450.00. It has a strong running 454 engine, good transmission(don't know what it is), good tires, and a pretty good body. The inside is filthy and it needs a front brake job(maybe back to???)
He thru in some front rotors that were won off of ebay for another $120.00 They look like they are almost new with new bearings and seal in them. The grease emen looks new.
Don't know what I'll do with the rack, but this looks like I will have a good project on my hands.

Re: Think I Got A Deal....

Nice score. I think you got a great deal. The 454 and the tranny (probably a TH400) is well worth that. My dad just sold a 78 Dually for $3,600.00, not in good shape. They guy just wanted it, I guess.

Re: Think I Got A Deal....

I am pretty happy with it. It was used as a work truck for some ironworkers recently. The inside is pretty dirty, but not tore up. Truck seems to run very well.. I needs some things done, but at least I have a good starting point on it.

Re: Think I Got A Deal....

[QUOTE=ctouchet;1970672]phuloi68 i dont know if i would have claimed Notre Dame as my Team

After all these years I would think not to bet with my heart, on Notre Dame or the Chicago Bears, but to use my head.......oh well

As for the truck, I have done some things for my friend so I guess he returned the favors.
I used it some this summer and it is a hauling son of a gun.
The front brakes are bad, as I said, but I will take care of that.
Don't know how far I will go towards fixing it nice. I will give it a good cleaning and going over and see how good the truck really is.

Re: Think I Got A Deal....

how is the rot? IF it were me i would spend the time and money to get it back to its former glory and then i would have to go buy a big boat or camper as an excuse to keep it. Sweet truck

Re: Think I Got A Deal....

Rot is not as bad as I thought it would be for an Northern Indiana truck.
I found something in the glove box that showed it was origanally a Maryland truck. Don't know for how many years but that may have protected it some.
Floor seems solid. Typical inner fenders spots, cab corners, etc.
But not as bad as I figured. I will wait till the weather gets better to start going into it. I will do the brakes soon and then just play with it to see how good it is.
