3 spoke Vette steering wheel
Does anyone have a picture of a 3 spoke Vette wheel in our trucks? What adapter do I need for a 70 model column?
Thanks |

LIKE THIS????
This wheel is actually of off a mid 70s Buick. I have the same one on my 70 Chevelle ( it was an option ) .
As for the wheel on my 72 K10 , I used the original adapter that was on the Buick . Its actually a little bit larger DIA than the column , but works good! I think an adapter from a mid 60s optional wood wheel would probably be the right size. They are hard to find tho. As for the horn cap , this one came from a 68 Z28. I think they are also available as a Repo from one of the Chevelle / Camaro suppliers. . It snapped right on the original horn-ring adapter. GM should have offered this as an option on these trucks....... It just looks right!!!

I have a 69 Camaro comfort grip wheel in my truck. Looks just like toomany's. It has the 69 adapter that is a little larger than the column. You can get the 67-68 adapter and it should be same diameter. Muscle Factory sells the complete package, wheel, adapter, horn parts, cap, and screws for $199. I plan on getting two or three more for my other cars.

QUESTION for Andy4639
I noticed on your speedminder that the adjusting knob is to the left of the speedo. Mine is to the upper left ( see pic of steering wheel) Was yours that way from the factory? Just wondering.

69-75 or possibly 76 Vette, upto 1977 Buick commonly found in the small Buick Skylarks, and some T type Regals, and Rivieras,a 1969 Chevy option, the 4 spoke common in the Olds Starfires from about 1980ish,and upto 77 Olds Cutlass S,and upto 77 442's but the fuller size car the steering wheel is a little larger diameter and worth twice as much money the large diameter black ones ive sold in the past to 442 guys for upto $225 for a nice one,i myself prefer the smaller diameter anyway. The Black 3 spoke is available repop.the adapter on the wheels fit the common but as mentioned are a a little bigger diameter but it causes no problem,i have one in my 62 Wagon,my 69 GMC,my 79 Blazer, one will go in the 67,and i have a stash of about to i hang onto and i buy every used one i find at junkyards, swapmeets i pay upto $50 for a color wheel if nice, just the hub is worth $30 used,i sell the Buick caps on ebay usually go for $15-$20 ive had the Olds horn caps sell for upto $40,and i pay upto $75 for a real nice black 3 spoke.but normally i pick them up from $5 to $25 the ones in the pic are a few of the ones ive collected, the horn cap on the tan one is a early GM repoduction its available for $29.99

Speed warning
I placed it there because it was the best spot I could find. I bought a complete dash with the speed warning in it at the Charlotte speed way one year, and while I was walking around one of the venders offered me a brand new speed warning out fit for the whole dash. I had the rest of the dash already and all I wanted was the s/w anyway so I figured I couldn't go wrong trading for new for 25yrs. old stuff at the time. I didn't have anything to go by, and it works good so that's how it got there.

This is an early 70s buick wheel with a chevy horn cap. The buick adapter hub is the same diameter as the truck column and will fit the chevy wheel.

This one is from a 76 Olds 442 that i pulled,my brother and stepdad both have the identical wheel in both of there 77 442's
heres one is on ebay a bit pricey for a rusted, painted one,id give $25 for it,might be able to save the wheel, button might be worth $20 on up,the Olds hub is unique to the olds the buicks have a notch in them, you can out the olds wheel on a 3 spoke hub,but you cant put a 3 spoke wheel on a 4 spoke hub unless do some modification(filing)http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1872114686 |

Dessert rat, Thanks for the info. It was a $10 swap meet find and had a buick horn button on it so I just assumed that a buick and olds used the same wheel.
