Transmission Linkage
Hi all,
I have a TH350 automatic with a DSOM-installed floor shifter. I want to remove that and put the shifter on the column. The truck originally was a 3-tree manual. The transmission has a c-shaped plate on the side of it that the linkage to the floor shifter attaches to. What do I need to make it a column shifter? Can I do it with this column? Do I need a new column? Thanks, 68ChevC10 ------------------ 1968 Chevrolet C10 Stepside. My driver. Aint life cool.

you can and i have in the past and it works fine but no one wil reccommend it, i actually hate the indicator for the gear ranges for auto trannies on the column.
anywyas, technically you need an auto column, the parts board has some posts in it with auto columns listed or show on parts trucks, id ask the owners, and for linkage pieces also, linkage is harder to get, i have used 73-up linkage in the past with a three speed manual column and worked fine completely. depends on your abilities to line up things and drill two holes in top of frame rail next to tranny to bolt the 73-up linkage pivot cup bracket to., details needed yet? |
