Post Southern Rods Seat Belts

Well i ordered my set from them and got em yesterday. Started playin with stuff and found they are way too short. I coulda rigged it so it would have worked but no hefty people could ever use the truck. I'm 6' weighing 210 and there was only a li'l bit of slack (3" or so) more to play with. Also the belts were hard to move. Just thought i'd share so you guys with bench seats dont end up goofin like i did. A bucket seat might be alright but i dunno. Good luck guys.

Ohh i checked out my 85 s10 blazer, it's belts are nice and long and the clip portion is long enuf. I think i'll go to the yard and find one of those setups, just gotta get different bolts is all i can tell. Anyone else have any suggestions for junker cars with shoulder harness? Thanks in advance

i got mine last wk also,from southernrods.did you notice the hole in the top (portion looking down)of the retractors??there seems to be a hole in the plastic retainer.is there some kinda release mech.that keeps the retractor w/the webbing balled up for shipment.looked like a metal tab was to pushed in w/ a screwdriver to activate the retractor.i dunno but maybe more webbing is waitin' to be rolled out further. haven't really goofed w/mine yet to know for sure.

I didnt really notice, the retractor unit on mine worked just fine, just too short is all.

one other thing to consider when ordering 3-point belts for a bench. I got mine from Julianno's and they didn't tell me there were different lengths available for the belts that connect in middle behind seat. Unless you measure from retaining bolt through seat divider with seat in all possible locations and body types (thick / thin) in place you'll get 16" belts that will hardly come through the seat. And you'll go through a real hassle trying to return for longer ones, plus pay your own freight!

just got a portion of the pass. side retractor and pillar mount bolted in today. just as you had said the female end is too short,even w/ the seat(a bench)all the way back.luckily i work in a machine shop, so i'm gonna make some kinda steel plate to mount to floor to mount the female end to.gotta make it longer to get thru the crease in the bottom of seat,after that should be good to go.also i noticed that if you hold the retractor steady,like under your foot,you can release the spring lock in retract.easier. i had been trying to do it in my hands,and wouldn't release.duuuhh!!!
