70' or earlier short bed 4x4 frame?
Are they worth anything? I found one with a cab and bed. The rest is gutted. Beds probably junk but the cab is very fixable. What are these things worth? It was a leaf/leaf setup if that makes a difference...

wanna make a trip up north
Depends on who you are talkin to/who wants it. How's the frame and everything? pretty rusted, moderatly, etc etc. I spose that's soemthing somebody like me might pay 200-500 bucks for. Maybe. As for the leaf/leaf, setup, I'm not the price expert. I suppose before the moderators edit your post for trying to sell something/loopholing that, I am guessing one's for sale and you want to see if this guy's rippin you off?

Re: 70' or earlier short bed 4x4 frame?
No, no need for moderater editing. I do not have it in my hands or have any intention on buying it or selling it. I might let somone know where it is if its worth their and my time. Honestly I know where it is and it could be bought, probably very cheaply, but im just wondering if im spining my wheels trying to find an owner. The frame is slightly rusty it would need sandblasting if you wanted a show stopper, but come on dude im in Iowa, everything has rust!!

Re: 70' or earlier short bed 4x4 frame?
alright, then moderators need not bother that post. just makin sure it was all clear, since almost naything that mentions "buy", "sell", or "how much" / "pricecheck" could be breaking the rules. I guess this is all green then.
But anyways, yeah, I know about the rust. Up here in ND ain't so bad, since we don't salt our roads, but our neighbors over in MN do. And I'll have to comment on over in Chicago and stuff (you can tell they do, just look at my 91 Blazer, haha). Gotta say though, I'm really looking for a 4x4 frame for my 69, shortbox or not. But I might have something local to look at, but good luck on selling that thing.

Re: 70' or earlier short bed 4x4 frame?
if anybody was making a parts run or something to my area, I would gladly meet them somewhere and purchase it off of you! but unless somebody is going on vacation in the (beautiful!) 20-30 degree weather up here, I doubt this one is coming into my hands

Re: 70' or earlier short bed 4x4 frame?
I`d kill for one of those within about a 500 mile radius.(this is not a WTB post but a WTK post).I missed one for $700,a bit steep, but I would have paid it for the quality of truck I plan to build.I`d say $500 is respectible,$200-300 is great.

Re: 70' or earlier short bed 4x4 frame?
In response to your question--YES-- a SWB 4x4 frame is probably the most desireable frame to work with from a collectable perspective. They were all leaf front and back. 67-8-9-0 were drum-drum where as the 71-2 were drum-disc which is even more desireable to some. If the frame has enough metal thinkness to withstand a good sand blasting and it doesn't show bent-frame issues, then I would say it is worth several hundred $$ to anyone looking for a good SWB 4x4 Frame---but only if it an original SWB frame. One cut down is not nearly as desireable. If the Vin # matches the frame stamping and it reflects an original 4x4---^^ jack it up a bit more.
Thanks for sharing your find--Huck. |

Re: 70' or earlier short bed 4x4 frame?
Not that I'm aware of, but sometimes people will cut down a short bed and put a truck body on a blazer frame. I've seen that a few times.

Re: 70' or earlier short bed 4x4 frame?
Thanks for the speedy response! I have a 72 GMC 4x4 short bed and I had to add a 3" body lift to clear the 38.5 tires. Where can I find a good 10, or 12" suspention lift for this old of a truck? This body lift sucks!
