Engine code quickie

Going to preview an auction today for a 4-bolt 350, the numbers are on the block front on the right looking at it correct?

I believe they are on the pad at the front of the right bank, which would be the left side as you are looking at the motor.

the numbers on the front pass side are vehicle specific. The number to look for is on the driver side rear, this will tell you the range of years but you wont know if it is 2 bolt or 4 bolt. 1968 to 76 block # 3970010. You need a codes book to besifer the serial number on the front pass side.

go to www.mor-tec.com
they will show where block and head casting number are found, and what years,size,main cap #'s....etc.......for engine and heads.very informative site.
