82 350 Hp?
What was the stock horsepower for an 82 gmc 350? I just installed an edelbrock performer plus cam, performer intake, and a 600cfm performer carb. Also, my heads were shot so i had to work with what I have and threw on a set of 305 heads with 1.84 I and 1.5 E valves. I did a compression test and I have between 160 and 175 psi. Is this way too high? What would be my new horsepower approx.?
Thanks for the help!

no thats not too high, the HO305 engines had 9.5 compression ratio, you wont have that much unless you have HO305 pistons, as long as you have regular 58cc 305 heads like the 144014416 ones, 1.84 valves are hurting your airflow, and so are the intake runners volumes of them. stock PSI otherwise is 150

The 1982 LS9 (Vin A) 350 was rated at 165 Horsepower @ 3800 RPM and 275 ft-lb of torque at 1600 RPM.
Pretty mild by todays standards, but the mods you have made make a really big difference on these early 80's gas guzzling smogged down monsters. My guess would be that you are around 250 HP now. But that pretty much a SWAG.

at the crank without water pump or alternoator or any of that crap those 350's were makin 239hp. With your cam+intake you should be up about 40hp. But then you have 305 heads, so Id say your right at about a stock 350, maybe just a tad better.

Just thought I'd add that I removed all of the EGR pollution crap, this probably makes a difference as well.
Thanks for all the help!
