Ok, I have a 67 2wd, 283 and three on the tree. I just acquired a low miles 350 and am getting ready for the swap, my question is, what size is the clutch in this beast? I been looking on ebay and my options seem to be an 11" or a 10" I am pretty sure it is 10 but I would hate to buy the thing and then not have it fit, and I would like to have the part on hand before I start the swap, so I can get it in and out in one day. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think it came with an 11" but that doesn't mean you have to stay with that.My '69 came with a 350ci and has a 12" clutch.
My book shows that the straight 6 cylinder models got the 10".

my truck is a 350 with a muncie m21 and it is an 11" clutch. btw what type are you looking at. just went to the speed shop a couple days ago and priced a centerforce and it was like $350! I was trying to find one like I have in the mustang...ram hd for around $200 but they dont make one for that app.

Might see if a local parts place would let you buy both, then give you a refund for the one that won't fit.

If it's the smaller, you might want to look into a 10.4" clutch. My old 6-cylinder Nova ('69) came with a 9.125" clutch, but a 10" disc for a 307 fit, using the original pressure plate. I was pleased to find out that a 10.4" pressure plate and disc for a 350 also fit on the same flywheel, and was an even greater improvement than the 10" was. The 10.4" did require a shorter throwout bearing, since it had the bent-fingered diaphragm, whereas the others had a flat one. I don't know how much of this interchangeability applies to trucks, but it wouldn't surprise me if they're similar.

Yep, they're the same. I just went through this with my T-5 swaps. Was gonna go with 9.125 but found a 10.4 that fit in the pressure plate. I ended up taking it back, but for an unrelated reason.

Not to jack the thread, but.. if there a benifit in running a larger or smaller flywheel/clutch?

I'm not an expert but GM put a 12" in my truck and there must have been a sound engineering reason for the expense. The more torque an engine is capable of,the harder the clutch must hold. Also the more weight you must get moving the harder the clutch has to work,and the more heat that is generated.A larger flywheel and clutch will be able to absorb and dissipate this greater heat better than a small clutch.Thus the large clutch will be less likely to get glazed over,the Flywheel will be less likely to warp or experience other heat damage.The friction material will last longer in any event.-cougar

Thanks for the input, dunno what brand I was looking at, it was on ebay for like 49.99 or something like that, some cheap off brand, but thats ok, this is only temporary, I am going to put the body on a newer 4 wheel drive frame and use all of the running gear off of the donor truck.
