thank goodness for temp guage

Well I just put a new temp guage in the truck about a week and a half ago, and on the way home from a 4 hr trip last night, I look down and the temp is way up there (like 250) and know something is wrong (on the way there it was around 180 the whole way). Well I turn on the heater all the way up to help out with cooling while I limp on into town. The heater was blowing cold air!, so I figured it wasn't circulating water. So I get into town and pull into a convience store and pull out the thermostat, put, re-attach the hose, fill it up with antifreeze, and start it up, temp goes right down to 125. It stayed there for the rest of the trip.

I'm just glad I had the new temp guage, other wise I may have damaged the heads or engine.

I got a new thermostat today, and all is good now.
