3010 cv headache

Ok let me give you what i got... I have a 1310 cv style saginaw driveshaft that im trying to make work on my 72 NP 205. The problom is it is flanged and the front output on mine is the u-joint style...
It is the 10 spline output and im NOT interested at changing it to the 32 spline just this moment. I just want something that will work for the next month or two..

The spicer 1310 cv does not have this flange and would bolt right up to my transfercase.... what vehicles ran this shaft? was it jeep? I want to try and find on in the salvage yard to get me by for now.

Any enlightenment in this area would be greatly appreciated!!! thanks much!

Oh another idea is by buddy says he has a few np203's layin around with the flange output.... did these come in 10 spline and would they interchange???

i realized my header says 3010 i ment 1310...

GM used 2 diff types of front outputs, both of which you described. I can't remember what years are what, but I think the flange is the newer style. If you need the u-joint style, find an older truck, or a Ford. I have a front shaft that came out of a 74 3.4 ton, and a Ford t-case that came out of a 77.

Re: 3010 cv headache

You will have to swap the front output, the fords and most dodges have the 32 spline unit. Later chevrolet ran a 30 spline shaft that had the flat flange you are referring to. Either way the shaft will have to changed or get a different driveline

Re: 3010 cv headache

Well i found a different shaft that bolts right on..... cherokee front shaft with no mods bolts right on the for the 1/2 tons. This is by no means the strongest selection but are dirt cheap at the yard and the newer ones have stronger shafts.
BTW my rig is lifted 11" in front and 13" in rear... problom solved.
