two piece drive shaft to one piece cust. aluminum

I got this 72 3/4 ton and dont know when to quit playing. would like to get rid of the two piece driveshaft. seen many later model fords with the giant/thick aluminum shaft. its so thick due to the fact its long . I would like to think I would be better off with a one piece unit. eliminate the center support and slip yoke in the center. have a custom aluminum unit made with proper slip yoke....sure its going to be costly but I think it may improve ride and drive train vibration.... any input at all on this or has anyone toyed with this????

I was going to have a one piece made (It wasn't aluminum) and the driveline shop talked me out of it. Since I'm not running a lot of horsepower, they said it wasn't a big advantage over a well maintained 2 piece.

If you are going to ;eave it tall like that, it may be a different story.

i see absoluytly no reason in doing it. Get a high quality carrier bearing, adn have it installed by a good driveline shop, and that sucker will last 30 years.

AND make sure the new carrier bearing wasn't made in China. If carrier bearings were all that bad, you wouldn't see them in large trucks where dependability is a factor.

I left mine stock....had Drivetrain of Mesquite replace all the u-joints and the carrier bearing....smooth as silk now.

Jimmydean I have to leave it tall, LOL,,, the tires darn near rub now in front when I hit a big bump and higher speeds, the tread scuffs the fenders. as for the driveshaft I dont have too much of a vib. issue, its just a 3/4 ton and rides like it. was wondering if anyone has toyed with one pieces.. maybe after reading some replies, maybe I will not waste coconuts on a cust. one piece. thanx
