Re: Brake Lines as Transmission Lines

Brake lines are usually a lot smaller in diameter.

Re: Brake Lines as Transmission Lines

I assume your friend was talking about the steel tubing that parts stores sell in different lengths and sizes.
If that's what he was refering to then, yes you can use it for transmission line.
Most auto trans use 5/16 lines.

I use it alot for trans lines, brake line, and fuel lines.

5/16" steel brake lines are what you need. same thread as the tranny cooler fitting on the transmission or radiator.

you can get them at Napa, here are part numbrs:
20" long 813-1231
30" long 813-1232
40" long 813-1233
51" long 813-1234
60" long 813-1235

If you need a coupler to put 2 lines together the part number is 302x5

You can bend them by hand unless it's a really tight bend, if so you can get a hand held bender at Napa also, part number 775-9001 (taiwan made) or #2517 (US made) - - works best if you clamp the handle of the bender in a vise even though they are "hand held".
