Is this a correct '68 truck
I found a pic of this truck on the internet and it is supposed to be a correct 1968 truck. But I thought that trim was only on the '69 and up.
Maybe Longhornman will comment...

Re: Is this a correct '68 truck
The hood looks like 68, but the trim looks like 69 and up.

Re: Is this a correct '68 truck
Sorry i looked at the pic a little closer... I think those side marker lenses started in 69, and the mirrors look like 71-72 style.

Re: Is this a correct '68 truck
Hubcaps aren't correct either for a 68... Still a nice looking truck whether it's correct or not...

Re: Is this a correct '68 truck
For some reason, I'm thinking that's a '72 GMC. Aren't all the GMC hoods the same?

Re: Is this a correct '68 truck
the hoods chainged just like the chevy hoods.
That looks like a 71 or 72, with a 68 grill and hood. |

Re: Is this a correct '68 truck
I thought it looked off. The only trim I have seen on the 67 - 68 GMC's was the chrome strip that ran the length of the truck and hugged the wheel wells.
Anyone have a correct pic of a '68?

Re: Is this a correct '68 truck
the front edge...where the GMC bade is, that one is laid back (67 and 68 only) In 69, that became verticle.

Re: Is this a correct '68 truck
So Longhornman, what about the trim? Is that '69 and up trim?
Thanks!

Re: Is this a correct '68 truck
that is correct.
The mirrors, hub caps, trim, none of them belong on a 68. Even the side marker lenses are newer than 68. This is why I suspect it is a 68 front end on a later truck... True, it could be a 68 with later stuff installed, but normally ppl get the 71/72 and install older front ends. |

Re: Is this a correct '68 truck
Always remember that side markers are '68 and up and the GMC has letters on the grille in '67 and '68. The letters went to the hood in '69.

Re: Is this a correct '68 truck
side markers started in 68, but not that tyle.
Also, the GMC letters in the grill was a 67 ONLY... they moved up in 68. That hood and grill is 100% correct for a 68. |
