Looking for mild cam - any suggestion
Don't know much about cams these days. I have just alway left them stock. I am wanting something a little more powerful than stock. Is there a standard upgrade? This would go into a a 4 bolt 350 with flat top pistons with an Edlebrock intake and carb.

I've ran the Comp 268 in a small block also, was real happy with it. Good power, good idle, stock stall.

Another vote for the 268H.

I put the Comp Extreme Energy 268 in my wife's truck, and I will agree with all the above. It's an excellent cam to increase torque and power. BUT, it SHOULD be used with upgraded valve springs and increased stall converter as the duration, and lift are considerably more than stock. Another cam I'm running in my smallblock powered S10 Blazer right now is one from Crane's Blue Racer line that has 214/224 duration and .442/.465 lift. I feel it's a much better choice for a mostly stock engine. Still has a noticeable idle, good torque and I'm getting great gas mileage. I've been running it for 42,000 miles now and runs just like the day I put it in.

i'm with the guys on the comp cams 268h its a great all around cam, but the lunati voodoo 268 cam is just a little more radical i hear that will be the next one i use

Could someone with the CC High Energy 268H,describe what it's like? Power band? Top end? And also mileage if you manage to keep your foot out of it.
I was looking at the 260H personally,but my truck weighs 5000lbs+ loaded for work so I'm not sure which to get now.-Thanks

Another cam to consider is a Lunati Voodoo Cam. I'm running the 60100 in my truck and I love it.

I like the CompCams 12-231-2 cam; a little less duration than the 268 and a degree advanced - this moves the power down in the RPM band where our trucks like it for a daily driver. I've built with two of these and have been very happy in each case.
The 12-235-2 is the next step up and is also a great choice for an otherwise stock engine. Likely with the stock heads anything much over .450 lift a) isn't going to deliver much and b) needs to be very carefully checked for clearances. Crane has some great choices as well - the PowerMax H-260-2 is another great choice - a little milder on lift but also another degree of advance. Since you spend most of your time below 4000 RPM in a daily driver, suggestion is not to go with a high-RPM cam. |

Me too and it's awesome. Good low end, awesome mid range. I built my engine almost 20 years ago though so you might call Comp Cams tech line and see if there is something better they offer now.
Unlike some companys tech lines I've found comp cams to be very knowlegable. And you can't go wrong with their products. |
