Gas tank? for 69 step (early classic SS tank)
A person on a local forum is selling one and has said he's had it for awhile. He said he payed $580 for it originally. He is asking $375 for it. It is brand new (never been installed).
I was just wondering if this seemed like a good deal and more importantly...will it work with my truck. From the early classic site it looks like they come in either an 18 or 23 gallon size and work with either internal or external fuel pump. *Dimensions (the tank he is selling) -27" wide -20" deep -10" tall ![]() ![]() ...and the one from Early Classic: ![]() http://www.earlyclassic.com/catalog.aspx It looks like there are a few differences between the two...can anyone identify if it's 18 or 23 gallon? The seller doesn't know and was going to try and find the paperwork on it. What would you pay for it? Thanks for any help with this ![]() oh yeah...I've posted here and there, but never posted my truck. I'll do that soon cause I know everyone here likes pics although it's not much to look at right now ![]() Last edited by Sequoyah; 01-18-2007 at 02:30 PM. |

Looks like a good tank and for what your getting I'd say a fair price. I can't remember my formula's for volume, but from looking at those dimensions I'd guess that is a 18 gal. You'll have to work up a filler for it either through the side marker or adding a door into your step fender, both fairly easy to work our.

I'm just down the road from behind the airport and ANG base, but not near water

Sounds like a good price to me. I plugged it into my calculator and came up with 23.36526 gallons, give or take a few thousandths,

That should be the 23gal, the 18gal is a different shape I believe.

Re: Gas tank? for 69 step (early classic SS tank)
Hart Rod is right on the gallons, with those dimensions you will have to remove the rear cross member. The filler neck will need reworked or require a door in the bed floor to fill.
I have built a few alum. fuel tanks for local rodders, if you can deal with the two issues noted, you better buy it, A darn good deal for stainless in my opinion

Re: Gas tank? for 69 step (early classic SS tank)
yeah the filler won't be a problem...I have a friend that's gonna build me a stake body for the truck so we can run it where ever. Thanks for all of the comments so far
