Steering Column Help

Bought a "1971" tilt column for my 69 and never really looked at it until today. I dis-assembled it to repaint and rebuild. After comparing it to the non-tilt 69 I saw the rag joint flange(see pic) was attached directly to the bottom of the steering shaft, where the intermediate shaft should attach. Seeing this I believe I got screwed, reason being I now think it's from a van? Tell me I'm wrong!

Re: Steering Column Help

Can the non-tilt intermediate shaft be used on the tilt shaft?

Re: Steering Column Help

the van tilt that I just bought had that on the end of the column, no shaft at all...except the one you might have gotten!

I'm either using a u-joint or a shaft but I haven't looked into it much....

Re: Steering Column Help

you have a van unit. once you colapse the intermidiate shaft, it'll slide right on where that piece was.
