Any one seen this new engine yet?
http://www.gilbertchevy.com/engine_3...TOKEN=71081361
Just reading up on this now, the new GM Performance Parts HT383E, direct replacement for 96-99 trucks with the 5.7. This may be exactly what I have been looking for, but want your honest feedback. It has the same numbers as the HT383 and F/I ready It's for my 72 K20 with SM465 (soon to be NV4500) and 3.42s. I wanted the HT383 but really like the TBI I have now. Not looking for a F/I vs carb discussion, I just like the reliability of fuel injection. For this swap with the new engine, will it run fine with the NV4500? Also, where can I get a full harness? Any thoughts on the complexity of this vs going the HT383 route? Of course finding the money is easier said than done... THANK YOU!

Looks like the same motor, except for adding 2 sensors, and subtracting an intake manifold. I'd say it's great if you have a donor truck to swipe the F/I system. If not, why can't you add an aftermarket F/I system to the standard HT383 ?

I've thought about that, but there's not much information on that out there. Anyone done it? I would imagine you'd have to change the cam and what else? The EFI wiring harness for a 96-99 truck from Painless is almost $700...

Re: Any one seen this new engine yet?
do you want tbi injection or vortec injection? If you use tbi than the 383e is not needed, tbi will work on the regular 383 and will cost less i am sure.

From the info I've read about the HT383, it uses the stock 96~99 Vortec 350 hyd roller cam & would be capable of supporting a factory FI set-up if the harness worked w/o that reluctor wheel.
