Question double checking before I order carpet and sill plates

If I just want to carpet the front section of a 72 suburban, can I order the low hump truck carpet? Can I use the truck sill plates too?

Truck sill plates are the same, only the third door is different. As to the carpet,it could be low or high hump. I belive that the the Suburban front carpet is longer than the pickup carpet, though the truck carpet may fit.

longer toward the firewall or under the seat? I don't want the rear carpet or the cargo carpet, just the front as high up the firewall as possible.

Buy a roll of carpet and you can lay it out exactley where you want it! Plus it's a lot cheaper! Just my .02

I don't know how long the pickup carpet is, but the front section of my Burb carpet extends to about the middle of the front seat when the seat is all the way back. I would think the pickup/Burb carpet would be the same with respect to how high it goes up the firewall. You might want to ask on the pickup board how far back their carpet extends under the seat.

I tried an non molded carpet. It was thin and moved around a lot, even after glueing it it still rippled. Where and what did you buy?

Front of the carpet is the same, rear goes about 2/3 under the seat. Other carpet sets may be different,I bought my Suburban carpet set from Brothers.

Re: double checking before I order carpet and sill plates

I bought my carpet off of ebay. Their user name is "resonation". Their web page is rcustomcar.com. I only spent about $60 and carpeted the entire length of the burb. I just used spray adhesive to hold the carpet down. Below the carpet is rubber sound deadener. Spent a little time on it and it came out just as tight as molded stuff. So far I haven't had any issues with it tearing or coming up. I'm sure it is a little thinner than some of the OEM type kits out there and probably won't last as long but I couldn't beat the price. I can re-do it 5 more times if need be before it ends up costing me more.

Re: double checking before I order carpet and sill plates

Well after calling Brother, I ordered a Front piece for the Burb. $99+Shipping. I did look at the rcustomcar and I am going to call them. I am thinking about replacing the crappy thin stuff I putt down in the rear with it. Since I built the false floor that levelled the middle to the height of the rear cargo regular carpet can just be put down, no one seems to have black shag
