72 shortbox wheels

Sup guys? I searched around and couldn't find much. I am new here and just bought a 72 shortbox. I may lower the truck 2-4 or just 2 in back, maybe not at all. I am planning on either getting black steel wheels, or some more exotic used ones off of craigslist. What size wheels do I need as far as backspacing goes? What wheels do you guys think look the best? Please post pics if you have em. I'm going flat black, and I like the cost and look of the ratrod type of thing. I just think that if I can get some nice wheels off of craigslist for as much as a set of plain steel wheels, I should just get the nicer ones. Thanks for your help. I will be posting pics shortly, and updating things. I already put a new intake, carb, and HEI on her yesterday. These things are addicting!

Come on, I know it's a newbie question but I need to know. I tried to search. Even the stock offset would help alot.

Re: 72 shortbox wheels

supposing you have a truck with 5 bolts. the bolt pattern would be 5x5. that's the most important.

The width of the rim you choose will be the biggest factor in determining the proper backspacing to make the wheels look even. so before you look for wheels, you need to determine how you want your truck to look...

Wider in the rear is a pretty popular look (for example 8" Front 10" rear)

Re: 72 shortbox wheels

I have the Impala SS rims on my truck. They are about 9.5 inches wide with about 6 inches of back spacing. They clear everything fine. Just about any 15 inch rim should work fine unless it has ridiculous backspacing.
