Door rattle
Does anyone know how to fix "loose" doors? My passenger side door closes good, but has some movement when the door is closed. When I go over bumps, the door rattles and it's quite annoying. Does any know how to fix that?

Re: Door rattle
Open the door slightly and lift up on it while looking at the hinges. Do you see any play in the hinges / pins. There should be virtually no movement between the two halves of each hinge. If there is, you could replace the pins and bushings and that'll probably fix it. Another test for loose pins and bad alignment is to inspect the door jamb and floor plate for chipped paint or rust where the door might be striking the jamb or plate while it closes.
If the alignment checks out, I would look for loose components inside the door. I had a serious rattle coming from my window motor hittng the outside of the door and discovered that onw of the bolts holding the motor had torn through the sheet metal. 2 washers later and that rattle was gone . Good luck

Re: Door rattle
Also, if you mean that the door has movement in the horizontal when it's closed (IE, it moves when you push and pull on it while closed) you could check the striker pin for wear and replace it as needed. The door and jamb seals could also be replaced if they're old and compressed, that'll help give a tighter fit.

Re: Door rattle
most likley its one of three things. striker, latch or alignment or any combo of these things. i know this is annoying. and aligning doors is a *****. so i think so.

Re: Door rattle
Put a piece of hose on the striker.

Re: Door rattle
I just bought the cheapo plastic sleeve kit at Oreillys to fix my rattling passenger door. The striker bolt had lost its plastic cover.

Re: Door rattle
I have I think black 5/8 heater hose on mine for 3 years and it's still good. No rattles and the door shuts fine.

Replacement strikers are just a few dollars in the HELP! section.
