72 Custom Camper pic & Where for a post radio?
Hey ya'll,
I am trying to find a nice 2 post radio for my 72 Custom Camper. I used to be able to find a fair selection from places like radio shack etc. but I dont think very many places if any sell them today. Anyone out there found any sources whatsoever worth mentioning? The last one I purchased was from Auto Zone and I had to take it back 3x until I got a good ( Still a piece of junk ) one. Here is my 72 Custom Camper with one of my friends right as it came back from the paint booth. It is already close to completely put back together and this is what I need a good radio for. Thanks, OT |

Try ebay and look under "shaft style radio". Sometimes they have good name brand used radios.

Re: 72 Custom Camper pic & Where for a post radio?
Here is a link to LMC's shaft radios they sell. I am unsure on the quality of these. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/0093.asp
I know Pioneer used to make a shaft style that would work in our trucks, but that was about 5 years ago. I would recommend going to a car audio store and talking to a salesperson there. They can let you what makes/models of radios that will work in our trucks. You can then make the decision to buy from them or shop around. Good Luck!!!! |

I know they had some at Walmart a few months back. I haven't looked lately. I can't remember what the brand was either.

Re: 72 Custom Camper pic & Where for a post radio?
I used to have about 20 of them on a shelf in my garage. I still see them cheap at swap meets/ garage sales, I always look for the old metal
faced Pioneer units, they have great tuners and the cassettes can usually be fixed with a belt or a good cleaning. Nice thing about having a cassette in your truck, No one wants to steal it!

Re: 72 Custom Camper pic & Where for a post radio?
Thanks for the tips everyone! I am going to follow up on what you have given me here and hopefully come up with something.
The wheels that are on the truck still need to be detailed, but thanks for noticing them. They are vintage from the early 80's or late 70's and I think they are Western turbin's if I remember correctly. The color on the truck is called Medium Bronze or code 522 and matches the original interior paint very near perfect. I cant wait to get'r done! OT |
