speedo cable problems
I guess not all speedo cables are the same cause the one I bought from LMC don't work.
It fits perfectly in the speedo, but the other end of the cable will not go into the tranny. Its an SM-465 tranny. I know they started using it in '67, so maybe there's something different about the SM-465? |

Re: speedo cable problems
I had the same problem. It turned out that the old cable 's tip broke off in the speedo drive gear, I pulled it out and , now it works like a charm.

Re: speedo cable problems
I don't see any retainer or bolt near the speedo drive gear.
This can't be good. |

Re: speedo cable problems
Pretty sure both ends should be thread style, take the old one to NAPA and have them match it up with a new one, the have a listing with pics and end styles/sizes. Just replaced mine last month.
