Taking it to the grave...
Two part poll:
On the basis of a ZZ454 engine 440hp/ 500tq in a '72 SWB what would be your rear end choice? Considerations would include, daily driver, outright reliability, performance and driveability. Who would build it Currie, Moser, Strange or DTS? Basically you get to choose one rear end and one builder, that you will take to your grave... |

Re: Taking it to the grave...
truck 12 bolts, are not the same as a car 12 bolt..
the insides are made different, old car rearends were made to handle high H.P. with stock engines from the factory. muscle cars.. truck 12 bolts were made for hauling, towing, low H.P. DANA'S A SWEET REAREND... i have a 9" rearend because the pinion is supported in the front and rear where a 12 bolt car or truck is not. plus you can change the third member very easy. i have strange axels and third member..it almost cost me my third leg do it right one time..i only say that because i blew my 12 bolt to bits. then went to a 9" never looked back heres a picture of the toasted 12 bolt... heres a picture of the toasted coan converter... and some pictures of the 9" rear end.. i already spent the money and tested it so you don't have too..
