Glove Box Door Ideas...

Has anyone done anything really cool to thier glove box door? My truck has an orange dash with a black seat....so I have been thinking of painting the door black to set it off. I have also thought of covering it in vinyl, or making a stainless cover for it. I looked at the chrome ones, but I think it's a bit much....
I have also thought about doing some fiberglass work, maybe making a bowtie coming out of it, or a C-10 emblem.

What kind of ideas do you guys have?

Re: Glove Box Door Ideas...

I like the idea of a chrome rim and black center to match the instrument cluster.
There are some ideas in this post:

After browsing through that other post, I'm inclined to agree with the chrome rim and black center.

Man, there's a lot of beautiful dashes out there!

I agree, I like it too. I also like the yellow and black combo.

Here is a photo of a truck with a covered dash. You mentioned fibergalss for a design or logo. If you did a coverd dash like this, you could do the logo either recessed or raised with a foam backing behind the viynal.

Mine was chrome too, but it looked funny IMO, and was a PITA to keep clean.

Re: Glove Box Door Ideas...

I've seen a Chyenne option where the door was chromed and it had a vinyl center with a Chyenne badge on the GB door.It looked sharp and helped balance the dash. The nice thing about it was the vinyl was a wrinkle finish like the instrument bezel.

Re: Glove Box Door Ideas...

Since I'm customizing mine and have a chrome gage bezel, I'm thinking along the lines of cutting an oblong or Bowtie shaped hole in my glove box cover and installing a smoked plexiglass insert with some backlighting.

Another option I'm considering is it to surface mount a DVD/MP3 music video player screen in it.

Could cut 7 holes in it to match the pattern in the gage cluster, but I have no idea what I'd put in the 7 holes.
Chrome rimmed mirrors?
More gages?

Dunno. That's why Option 1 or 2 are more attractive to me right now.

Re: Glove Box Door Ideas...

i've seen a guy pop rivet an old liscence plate on the glove box door // it matched his floor and rocker patches so i guess it was a theme

The owner that I bought my truck from had this airbrushed on the glove box door. It looks good so I'm going to keep it.

Hadn't thought about airbrushing some art on it. Hmmmm. Nice Idea. Thanks.

Re: Glove Box Door Ideas...

A buddy of mine has access to a water-jet machine. I'm going to have him make a stainless cover that has "Mean Green" cut out in it(that's my truck's nickname).

Re: Glove Box Door Ideas...

what I always thought would be cool but might be over kill was tooling a piece of leather and dyeing it but the tooling would be a striping design and cover the whole glove box
