What Did You Get Done? 1/21 Where's N2TRUX? Edition

Dunno if its proper for me to start it, but its gettin' late...

I worked ALL weekend so little truckwise got done. However it looks like I'll be back on the road next weekend, which will make 3 full weeks since the fire.

During the week I managed to take apart the distributor and put in the new pieces and clean it up a bit inside.

Before:

No after pics, I'll add them later.

Also assembled the cap and attached the plugwires. Carb is ready to go, too.

And the hood is off, planning to sand it tomorrow, and paint it Friday afternoon.

ALSO, I picked up a cherry gauge cluster from an 87 for the cost of shipping, should have it by the end of the week.

So even though little got done, lots got done.

What did you get done?

Re: What Did You Get Done? 1/21 Where's N2TRUX? Edition

ok , friday night about nine i started taking the tranny out of the stang solo, i got all the connectors, and everything out, and then had my buddy help take it out, then we took it apart diagnosed it(bent shift forks), and put another lid on it, buddy help me stab it in the car, and i buttoned everything up myself( i was tired by this time, 1 or 2 o' clock) then took it off the jack stands, filled er up, put the shifter on(took to long), and we took it for a test drive(about 3 am) now i have second gear again , so i fell asleep about 5 a.m, so about 9:30 my buddy calls me and asks if i wanna help him go pick up a car, we go pick it up, in the snow, raining outside, ground all slushy and slick, and bring it back to his place, stock a battery in it, it just sits and turns over, so i get it in the shop(the car had a very small electric fire), it had burnt the timing belt all up so we took everything off so we could replace it, set the timing on it, sit there with carb cleaner for a while(it was getting fuel, and spark though), we are finally like screw it, we run a compression test on it and it was 30-something pounds(blown head gasket) so that little 2.3 ain't any good, he asks me what i would do with it, i said 460, and he was like that is a good idea, and had all but two small parts to have everything for the swap, so we are building a 80 mercury capri with a 460, and some kind of tranny (don't know yet, so this next week we are gonna pull the motor and tranny and make sure all the lights and everything work, and start the 460 swap

Not much. Fixed my DS window again, keeps coming off track due to the crack in the door. Been having a driveability issue with the AV tension on the Q-jet. Adjusted that today, dident get it quite right yet needs another turn still.

Re: What Did You Get Done? 1/21 Where's N2TRUX? Edition

Finally got my control arms from powerdercoat and new bushings. Got the drop spindles and springs in. New brake pads. Hope everything works. Supposed to get my "lost" front wheel and tire Mon or Tues. So then I can finally get my truck off the jack stands...then do the rear flip kit. Hope to have it done by this coming weekend, then drive it to get an alignment.

Re: What Did You Get Done? 1/21 Where's N2TRUX? Edition

Thanks for covering for me cliffsta...

It's been a busy weekend and I got on here late. My daughter had a volleyball tournament yesterday. They placed 2nd so I should be happy, but they were so close to taking 1st it was disappointing.

Beyond I ran service calls all weekend in the rain. I did manage to get my daily drivers washed today since the skies cleared...

Re: What Did You Get Done? 1/21 Where's N2TRUX? Edition

Been busy making the interior of my GMC a bit nicer, using some vinyl paint to die it black, what I've finished so far looks pretty slick. I bought an extra can to keep around incase it starts peeling, or gets scratched or something.

Gotta re-do the fuel fill I just finished off last week. Went to put gas in it, and quickly discovered that I put the filler hole way too low, so the fuel spills right back out after being poured in, doh! Gonna go with a round door this time though, I used a stock square door last time, and though I measured many times, and made 100% sure it was square with the bodyline, it still looked crooked due to the fenderwell's rear opening, and the bottom of the box side's angles.

Finally, drug home an 84 K5, which will be used as a 4x4 donor for the stepside, and will get the stepside's old 2wd suspension. Probally re-sell it shortly afterwards, and will use the 77 as an off-roading rig.

I know, some of you are digusted with the idea of it, but the 77's body is in terrible shape, and I just robbed it of it's nice dash pad to put into my 80, so the interior is nothing special either. I'll probally take the step box off so it doesn't get mashed up, as while it is rusty, it is still fixable unlike the rest of the truck.

The 84 will be sold as a 2wd, after making the interior a bit nicer, cleaning it up a bunch, and finding a door to replace the bright white and blue one so the rig will be all the same colors (two tone brown)

80 is being parked in the big shop after I finish painting the interior and fuel fill until I've collected the parts for the cam / head swap. Then I'll have a few nuts and bolts to tighten, and a seal to fix on the 205, and be left with only bodywork to do, which I'll do this next summer when it is a bit warmer out.

Re: What Did You Get Done? 1/21 Where's N2TRUX? Edition

I know this is the truck area but I put a "new" guage cluster and bezel in the Blazer, now I finally have dash lights! As a bonus my dome lights started working. I also mounted the spare tire holder in the back.

Re: What Did You Get Done? 1/21 Where's N2TRUX? Edition

Started tearing down the 403 Olds out of my 79 ex-diesel parts truck to pull it out so I can put it in my white 79, and replace the 250-6 that uses a 2 quarts every 100 miles. Other than that, just shoveled the snow we got.

Re: What Did You Get Done? 1/21 Where's N2TRUX? Edition

I'm chiming in late, I know, but I just now got pictures uploaded...

I spent Wed. night- Sunday at the local convention center for the Darryl Starbird Rod and Custom show. I decided it was time to bite the bullet and get my name out, so we purchased a vendor booth and spent the weekend advertising and tinkering around. I got the opportunity to pinstripe with some of the nation's greatest artists again, whom suprisingly, I've become good friends with a few of them.

Anyhow, here's a few pics of my booth, the golf cart I painted, etc...

I did this carshow board while we were there, for a good friend of mine.
