4 wheel disc brakes
has anyone done this yet? i'm thinking before i redo my suspension i should fix my brakes. i don't trust what had been done by the previous owner so i was thinking of replacing everything and going all out. and i thought of using 13" rotors in the front and 12" rotors in the back. anyone have any ideas and/or pics. i've gotta get a plan going for this summer!

Not many people make brake kits for these trucks. Stainless Steel Brakes makes a kit and a company called Aerospace somethin makes theml. ECE put them on their latest truck they are building. Most of the kits involve cutting up your OE spindles, so be ready for some work. You can put brakes on the back by either buying a kit for your rear end or completely switching rear ends, if you find one with the right gears and 5 on 5 pattern.

13's on the front would be nice but the mounting for the calipers will be to small to handle that diameter. You can do the 12's on the rear if you use the right mounts and the 77-79 caddy rotors

I really wanted 4 wheel disc on my truck, but after talking with several folks that are "into" these trucks and have tried the disc set up they all recommended that I not do it. Even the guys at Early Classics recommended against it. They all said the you can either get it proportioned out to where the back brakes will do very little or they will lock on you if you ever have to stand on them in traffic. So, for the money and the fear of having a big pain after the truck was finished I decided to stick with the drums and spend that money somewhere else. Just my 2 cents. I would love to hear if someone has had really good luck with theirs though.

I love mine!
I know my truck is a little different/ heavier, but they work great. 3/4 tons are very easy to change over to disk. I have had these for about 7 or 8 years now and have changed 1 master and have changed the pads maybe twice. Using the original drum master and booster/ with the 77 valve.

Ah, thanks Mudder. When I saw your name as the last posted I knew I missed something. They did tell me that they have had sucess with these on 4 bys because of the added weight of the truck.
