Dimensions of a SWB Fleetside Bed

Does anyone have the measurements or could provide?

I was able to find a SWB Fleetside Bed for my 62, off a 63 custom and I am driving 1500 miles round trip in two weeks to pick it up.

Need to know if it will fit upright on the front panel, w/tailgate in the air, strapped down in the back of a 2004 Z71 4x4, crewcab shortbed?


I dont want to hassle with a trailer if at all possible.

Get two or three 2x4's to lay across the bed rails and put the other bed on top of that upside down.. Then strap it down real good.. You can get some racheting tie down for this. Dont use rope.. And if the strap lays across any end of sheetmetal put something under the strap so the metal will not cut it.

Thanks for the advise and great idea. I will do just that and bring some old towels to put between any rub/stress points. and under the contact points between the 2x4's and the 63 bed.
