Read a few threads about what to do when you first purchase an old truck that has been sitting for a number of years. One thing was to drain all the old gas out, but I was wondering what you guys did with the old gas. Some of the trucks I've acquired have 10 gallons or more in them.

i would say take it to your local service station i work at one and people bring us all kinds of fluids all the time or if your really carefull use it as a cleaner which im sure is probley frowned upon by some

i use premium gas for my lawn equipment so i just add (strained)1/2-3/4a gallon to 5gallonsfresh hi test and burn it up // briggs will burn about anything

these old trucks are very easy to siphon gas from..a old garden hose.. works great...if you don't have a old one..just sneak over to that neighbor's your not to fond of and cut you a length

works good as week killer but also as a fire hazzard if not careful when spraying over yard

it'll work as a weed killer, but, you may as well just dump it into the water supply.
You could either take it to a collection point, which, in Cali, I am almost positive, that any place that sells you haz mat, is required to accept it for recycling. Or, you could filter it, and put it right back into the gas tank. If you pour one or two gallons in there with every fill up, there will be no effect on performance or mechanical problems. You may see a minimal decrease in MPG... but that's still better than pouring it in your back yard.
While I am not a tree hugger, I have to say cudos to you for trying to do the right thing. Some ppl just want to get it out of there hands, and will pour it in there toilet, and flush it out of there house. Problems is gone.
One gallon of oil will ruin 100,000 gallons of drinking water. I'm not sure how much gassoline will ruin, but we all know it is just as bad as oil when poured into the ground.
You don't have to be Mr environmental, but, we do have to take steps to do the right thing.

I dumped about 12 gallons of 10+ year old gas into a Windstar. Then we traded it in about a week later.

Don't know if I would do it to a car I was keeping, though.

look in your phone book for oil recyclers, You do recycle your oil right? ask them if they take it if not they might recomend who can. It also makes good camp fire starter fluid. Be carfull if you sifon with a dark colored hose, you cant see the fuel coming and it is real easy to get a mouth full

, I did that once, its not so nice, that and you berp toxic fumes for a while!

i use 93 octain for aftershave

the old stuff makes my skin yellow

I added fuel, fuel stabilizer and ran it all out...no problems...I had about 7 old to burn up.

all i did w/the 30 gallons i had was mix about 5 gallons w/the 20 or so i had in my 84 burb. it never knew any different & ran just fine...joe

Same here, my old Sub can't tell there's one gallon of crap gas in a 30-gallon tankful. Won't run right on Wal-Mart gas, though.
