True. When she added it it was only 1 gallon in a 20' x 4' above ground pool and everyone stayed out for a week to let most of teh acid neutralize.

Re: How can I remove this rust?

Rust Mort and Metal prep are almost identical and convert the rusted metal real well. Then use the encapsulator, like Rust Bullet (very good) POR 15, or Rust shield. This stuff can then be topped with an epoxy sealer and painted over. The encapsulators block the oxygen required for corrosion and as long as nothing gets scratched compromising the surface, the process works real well.

Re: How can I remove this rust?

I haven't used muriatic, but I used a phosphoric acid I bought at Lowe's. KleanBrite brand I think it is, in the paint section, a gallon for 12 bucks or so. I bought an empty spray bottle and sprayed on it my rad support and bottom of the cab prior to POR15. I applied it several times, scrubbed it with little wire brush, then washed it off. It took a few applications for the harder stuff, but on new surface rust the phosphoric eats it in just minutes.
