Re: I just drew a cantilever setup on AUTOCAD
Looks cool. It looks like it might have a problem raising back up. With the bar straght like that it looks like it might just push and bind. I think when lowered the bar needs to be like the upper pic and when it's raised it should look like the lower pic. I might be wrong someone will coorect me for sure if I am.

Re: I just drew a cantilever setup on AUTOCAD
It will work without binding, but I'd recommend that you bring your pivot point on the rocker arm up, and back towards the bag a little bit. Might also want to consider moving the tabs that the linkage connects to on the axle higher up on the axle tubing, rather than 90° off the side. Reason being is that there is a lot of force there, and if your welds are sub-par, or you don't have much experience welding, you will experience some problems there, maybe not right away, but down the road. If you can weld, and I mean weld, then by all means, the only thing I'd change is what I first mentioned.
Keep in mind however that you will need some way to locate the bag, unless you are going to use a shockwave. Otherwise you will end up with the bag bowing out in some direction which will cause things to break pretty easily. See pictures of my cantilever setup at http://gallery.mattzuba.com/v/Truck here's one picture for example... Last edited by SlammedDime; 01-28-2007 at 04:34 AM. |
