Re: The $160 67 GMC is passing on
Have you showed your neighbor yet? I'd be willing to bet he'd mess his pants! That is "wicked awesome."
What's the tailgate look like? Did it get striped too?

Re: The $160 67 GMC is passing on
Russell: The TBI engine now has a swap meet aluminum intake with the 4 center holes reamed to fit the late model heads with a Q jet rebuilt by another neighbor that runs circle track cars, the distributor is a $20 swap meet Mallory dual point, and the tranny is the original th 400 that was in it. I rebuilt it with heavy-duty parts from an epay vendor.
arkracing: I tried using acetone as was specified on the can but it was sooo hot out that the acetone would evaporate before the paint hit the truck and the paint would go on dry. I tried shooting closer, faster, heaver and then the paint would flash and skin over with acetone trapped underneath. The next day I had splotches that looked like a sponge from the acetone blowing through the flashed paint… I had to reshoot the cab….. As far as the hardener.. The inside of the cab is actually 2003 Mitcha-bs-e lightning yellow. $200 a gallon for omni single stage + hardener, sealer ect. I used a half a gallon on the interior and screw this… My wife set a lighter on the dash and it chipped… Even an oil based enamel set out to dry in this south Texas sun for a few days gets nice and hard! It was 105 deg. Out when I painted it.. can you say “baked on enamel!” It works great for me; besides, it’s cheap and easy to touch up considering who’s going to be driving it and that it’s going to be sitting it a high school parking lot all day…

Re: The $160 67 GMC is passing on
67chevyredneck:The tailgate wil be striped to match the hood. I still have to rebuild it because it was trashed. I picked up a chevy one at a swap meet for $15 and have to cut the chebby section and replace it with the GMC section.

Re: The $160 67 GMC is passing on
Wow, thats a pretty truck. I have a fairly dumb question for you though: Are the stripes on the hood decals, or are they painted on? If painted, how did you lay them out to look that good? Thanks for the info, and again, beautiful truck.

Nice truck I really like the stripes. What are they based on? I've seen several cars with the strips but not a truck
