83 Shevy won't lock in

Heres the problem. I have a 83 chevy, When i bought it the 4 wheel drive worked. Well being in Denver Colorado I went to get the truck out after all the snow that we keep getting and went to put in it in 4 wheel the light comes on the front drive shaft is moving but the front wheels aren't. It has an automatic 4 wheel drive. Shift on the fly. I looked under the truck and it looks like it shifts alright. Was wondering if you guys could help me out. My wife is getting tired of me driving her toyota 4 runner. Any body know anything about this.

so you have automatic locking hubs? these have been known to fail. you can replace them with new manual locking hubs, or get a pair from the junkyard.

Auto locking hubs aren't doing thier job. Get some good manual ones, I've got Superwinch hubs, but Warns and Mile Markers will do the job too. If you are in Denver, Hit up Colorado Auto and Parts Down off of Santa Fe and Radcliff. They have lots of trucks usually and you should be able to find a set down there. I was just at Andersons Junkyard in Greeley the week before last and I could have grabbed 1 set of Superwinch hubs, one MM and a couple of sets of Warn's off of the chevy trucks they had up there. I forgot to bring my allen wrenches or else I would have left with a pair for spares. Might be worth the drive (the snow wasn't bad in the yard, just wear boots!).

I agree time for some trusty old manual locking hubs. Just sounds like the automatics are not doing there job.
