Horn troubles.......
How many pieces are there behind the horn button before you take the wheel off? I have a thin medal disc with 3 holes, a plastic ring with 3 holes and the metal cup with a rubber o ring on it. Is that all. I can't get it to ground right to get the horn to work.

I think that you have all of the parts needed. Have you tested the hornbrush connection by grounding the brush to a ground?
The metal diaphragm is usually what loses conductivity where it contacts the steering wheel, so if you clean those areas that usually works. Jim |

There is another piece under the thin metal disk. A type of grounding plunger. Look at the LMC catalog, they show and sell the part.

This is all I have. I think I need those extra parts for my Grant to work.

I guess I have all the parts and I put them in how it's shown in the LMC catalog but I can't get them to stay put. I can ground it out and the horn will work If I touch that button/plunger part with a screw driver and then touch the center stud just fine. I just can get the pieces to stay in and work right. I'll get some pics of it this evening. Last edited by Zumo; 11-13-2002 at 03:51 PM. |

Zumo,
did you put the pieces back in the right order?. Also I think the metal disc has to have tension. I'm guessing on this. My horn doesn't work either.

Here's the order: -Plasic piece - Flat side down, screwed in with three screws -Metal Disc -Metal cup with rubber o ring(this goes over the 3 screws freely, is that correct? or should the 3 screws supposed to hold that down too?) |

I had the grant for a while, I remember you need to grind down the plunger. It worked for a while then quit on me. I tossed it and went for the 68 Corvette wheel instead.

Yeah I bought a grant wheel and the instal kit but I still couldn't get it to work. I took it back and got my money back.
