I was reading through the FAQ thread about mounting the Autometer gauges in a factory bezel.

I my searches, it seems that some 5" gauges are mounted through the front of the bezel & some are mounted from behind the bezel for more of a 'factory' appearance.

In some pics you can't see the Autometer gauges bezel on the 5" gauges (1st pics attached are the 'behind the bezel' mounting) & in other pics, it looks like the Autometer bezel actually isn't big enough & therefore looks like the gauge has to be mounted from the front.

Anyone know why this is?

This is the 'from the front of the bezel mounting' (not to be confused w/a flush mounted gauge).

SCOTI- Those are all mounted the same way. The reason you don't see the bezel on the first ones is that they are black. That looks good or chrome bezels blend well too.

I wondered about that... It's just that the first pic I posted just doesn't look like there's any portion of the autometer bezel showing from the front of the stock opening. compared to the others. In the last pic it's obvious.

I was actually looking @ this article & comparing it to the FAQ thread pics. In the FAQ pics, I didn't notice the Autometer bezel. In the magazine pics, I did.

I would prefer the Autometer bezel(s) to be completely unseen like in the article when the 2 5/8" gauges are mounted behind the lower holes.

You wont get that with the 5". If you use a chrome bezel, they all but disappear...

I used the 2 5/8 gauges on the bottom. Didnt take the pic from straight ahead. So its kinda high.
