New Carb Time??
About a month ago, my truck started running rough when I started it up first thing in the morning...sounded like it wasn't getting gas, so I popped the hood and found the carb was leaking from the top and the front two bolts were loose. (It's a Q-jet)....this fixed it and I drove off. This morning it did the same thing and tightening the bolts didn't help....it wouldn't start. I'm going to try and prime it to start it and check the other bolts, but I'm wondering if there's anything else easy to replace that will solve the problem...if not I'm gonna get a 1406 Edelbrock for it.
So for you carb guys....what can I check to fix it (I could really use the $250 elsewhere!).

Sorry, I'm dumb when it comes to carbs. I've seen that Jegs sells rebuild Edelbrocks for $180. Here's the link.
http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...13&prmenbr=361 It will save you about $60. I'm thinking about replacing my Holley down the road and will definitely look at this option.

I tried the truck again when I got back home and it started fine....the bolts seem to work loose....maybe I should get lock washers for them...
Thanks for the link to the reman Edel's...we've got a speed shop down the street that has 'em as well...good thing to know.

Eric sounds like you need to get teh iar mixture set. It may be bogging it down in back 2 barrels when you get on it and it's dumping too much fuel for the engine until it sucks enough air to mix in with the added fuel. I bet Swervin can tell you exactly how to fix it on a Q-jet.
